About this Opportunity

Join us in honoring our nation’s heroes by helping install and remove American flags throughout the Vandeventer Neighborhood Community Healing & Meditation Garden. Volunteers place flags along pathways and flower beds to celebrate USA national holidays and show respect for our veterans and community members who served.

  • Memorial Day (Last Monday in May)Β

  • Independence Day (July 4)Β

  • Veterans Day (November 11)

Volunteer Tasks:

  • Install and remove flags throughout the garden

  • Clean and prep flagpoles for each holiday

  • Help set up reflection areas (benches, flowers, signage)

  • Photograph displays for community archives and social media

  • Light garden clean up (remove litter/debris)

Why Volunteers Are Needed:

These events create a visible tribute to military service and unite neighbors in gratitude. Volunteers help maintain the beauty and dignity of the garden.

Time Commitment:

Each activity lasts about 30 minutes, usually in the morning for installation and early evening for removal (not on the same day).

Best For:

Community groups, families, veterans, scout troops, and students seeking service hours.
