Work alongside our recreation team to support children with disabilities in a range of sportsfrom soccer and basketball to skiing and swimming. You'll be on the front lines, facilitating adaptive programs, coordinating volunteers, and helping design team jerseys and practice drills. Department Overview
Reach for Resources is a nonprofit agency based out of Minnetonka, Minnesota. We provide individualized services that maximize independence, boost community engagement, and improve physical and emotional well-being to individuals of all abilities living in the Minneapolis metro area. Our recreation department offers small group and individual therapeutic services and contracts with county and city park and recreation departments to provide adaptive recreation,
inclusion support, and training services to their community members.
Job Summary

The Adaptive & Inclusive Sports Intern at Reach for Resources will collaborate closely with the recreation team to offer support and services to children with disabilities and their families through various sports programs. The interns responsibilities include assisting children with disabilities in mainstream sports settings, leading adaptive sports such as bowling, softball, basketball, pickleball, and soccer, and providing administrative support for these activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities include:
Work with the parks and recreation staff by providing paraprofessional support at sports programs including but not limited to: soccer, dance, t-ball, basketball, downhill ski/snowboard lessons, ice skating lessons, swimming, and more!
Facilitate adaptive sports programs (sports offered depend on the season)
Provide administrative assistance such as designing and ordering team jerseys, printing rosters, sending email reminders, and monitoring weather for weather cancellations
Provide ongoing communication and feedback to program supervisors
Share ideas for future program improvement
Complete needed paperwork and trainings in a timely fashion
Learn and utilize many different behavior management strategies to help all participants be successful
Assist in designing a stretch routine or drills for practices
Assist in communication of inclusion plans with families
Coordinate volunteers who can assist with coaching opportunities
Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a bachelors or masters degree program in social work, psychology, sociology, education, or a related field (or with related work experience)
Experience working with children and/or people with disabilities
Experience playing a sport on a team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Creative problem solving skills
Must have current drivers license in good standing and maintain own reliable transportation
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
