About this Opportunity
This is an AmeriCorps/Washington Service Corps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. Disability Empowerment Center helps people with disabilities get resources for successful, independent lives. We believe everyone deserves to be treated with equity, to be included and to have choices. The needs of people with disabilities are often not considered in emergency planning. Protection systems, evacuation plans, and other aspects are made for people who do not have disabilities. Fixing this requires listening to people with disabilities in planning and proper coordination. The member will support individual and community readiness planning to prepare for emergencies. They will ensure the needs of people with disabilities and older adults are integrated into state and county-wide planning. We will conduct rolling review of applications and interviews until the position is filled. Monthly stipend amount: $2,438
