About this Opportunity
Join student leaders from the YVC Stand Together Against Racism youth initiative to discuss thought-provoking films about race. Watch the movie prior to the virtual discussion. Students and adults are welcome to join us! Discussions are held via zoom except when noted.
July 15, 2025 - July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, also known as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to recognize and support the unique mental health needs and experiences of minority communities. In celebration of this important month, students from our STAR and Youth Mental Health Ambassador initiatives will come together for an in-person screening and discussion of the documentary Happy. This thought-provoking film takes viewers on a journey across five continents—from Namibia and Brazil to Bhutan, Kolkata, and Louisiana—in search of what truly makes people happy. Blending cutting-edge science with powerful human stories, Happy offers insights into how we can live healthier, more fulfilling lives. Following the screening, participants will engage in a meaningful conversation about the film’s themes and their connection to mental health and well-being in diverse communities. If you’re interested in learning more about or getting involved with either of these Youth Volunteer Corps of Reading initiatives, we invite you to join us for this special event. (Bonus: food will be provided!). THIS IN-PERSON EVENT STARTS AT 5:30 PM.
