About this Opportunity

OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION: Help sort and categorize donated non-perishable food items so they can be safely distributed to those in need. This active warehouse role includes checking expiration dates, moderate lifting, and walking. You may assist in additional duties such a bulk packing, light cleaning, or recycling.
ACCOMMODATIONS: We require all Sort and Repack volunteers to be able to lift 40 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, and independently follow directions without assistance. If you require special accommodations for yourself and/or your group or do not meet our requirements, please contact the volunteer coordinator at volunteers@brfoodbank.org or (225)359-9940.
LATE POLICY: If you will be more than 30 minutes late for your shift, please reschedule for a shift that you can fully attend. Volunteers are expected to sign up for shifts, arrive on time and stay for the entirety of the shift in order to maintain the warehouse workflow.
DRESS CODE: Closed-toe shoes are required (sneakers recommended). Wear comfortable clothing suited for weather (our warehouse is not climate-controlled). Please leave valuables in your trunk or bring them inside.
SIGN-UP POLICY: All participating individuals must sign up under their own account. If you're signing up someone else (like a child or friend), they must either sign up with their own account or be added to a volunteer team. Creating a team does not automatically register others — you must add each person to the team and assign them to the shift. This ensures accurate records and hour tracking.
