About this Opportunity

YouthBASE is seeking volunteer tutors for its after-school intervention program for Kindergarten through 2nd grade children at our location in the Judson Mill neighborhood serving the downtown Greenville and White Horse Rd areas. Hours are between 3:00 pm and 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and volunteers do not necessarily need to stay the entire time, but must stay for our academic rotations 3:40 pm - 5 pm.  You may volunteer on the days that work best for you! We ask that you commit to volunteering once a week in order to build relationships with the students and provide consistency. We also run a Summer Program from June 12 - July 28th. Monday - Friday. From 9am - 2pm. We need more help during academics that is from 9 am - 11:30 am. At YouthBASE our students rotate between reading, writing, and math class.

As a volunteer you may be helping to faciliate activities, working one-on-one with students, providing some homework help, reading with a child, helping with math and writing.

ABOUT US
YouthBASE is a unique educational intervention program offered after school and during the summer for at-risk children. Its mission is to equip children in K5 through 2nd grade with the skills and abilities to overcome Behavioral, Academic, Social and Emotional difficulties so they may succeed at school, home, and in the community. This year-round program is offered free to families of children who are referred by their school teachers because they are performing significantly below grade level. We envision a community where all children succeed. Success to us means that children are grade-level proficient by 3rd grade and demonstrate age-appropriate behavioral and social skills, and that their families are engaged in fostering the child’s healthy development.

Requirements: Will need to complete a volunteer orientation before starting and a background check. We do not accept volunteers that are required to do court mandated community service hours.
