About
Hospice care at UnityPoint is a coordinated care approach between a medical director, physician, nurse and others who all work together to provide the right plan of care to relieve suffering and improve the quality of life for the patient. Our volunteers are a part of the hospice team, which supportive in every way necessary to honor the wishes of the patient. Hospice is not about giving up hope; it is about doing everything possible to live life to its full capacity.
UnityPoint Hospice in central Iowa is consistently ranked at the top of the Medicare.gov hospice ratings locally and scores above the national average in every category of the family caregivers survey results: communication with family, getting timely help, treating patient with respect, emotional and spiritual support, help for pain symptoms, training family to care for patient, rating of this hospice, and willing to recommend this hospice.

Along with our hospice team, volunteers provide comfort and support for a patient and their family.
