About
Mission: "Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses." Make-A-Wish Iowa was established in 1987 and since then we have granted over 4,500 life changing wishes for Iowa children battling critical illnesses.
Mission Statement
Make-A-Wish Iowa grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. The process begins with a referral from the child, a parent or guardian, or a medical professional. Community volunteers meet with the child and his family to discover the child's wish. From there, our staff works to make the necessary arrangements and make the child's wish come true, whether it be a "wish to go," a "wish to meet," a "wish to be," or a "wish to have." Our volunteers then deliver a wish celebration to the child and their family, whether it is the item that they wished for or the details for their travel wish. We have volunteers throughout Iowa who operate in a network of local committees, including the Cedar Valley area. Volunteers work with wish families to grant wishes, plan and execute fundraising events, and promote Make-A-Wish in the community.
